Licensed in Japan

A licensed Japanese secondhand dealer

Trading in pre-owned goods in Japan requires a government-issued secondhand dealer license (古物商許可), granted by the Public Safety Commission. Tokyo Vault operates under this license — the same legal framework that governs Japan's most established dealers.

Questions collectors ask

Who performs the inspections?
Watches are inspected by an independent, WOSTEP-trained watchmaker in Tokyo. Leather goods are verified by a specialist with over a decade in the Japanese secondhand luxury trade.
Can I see the inspection report before buying?
Yes. Ask for the full 40-point report on any listed piece and we will send it with macro photographs within 24 hours.
What happens if a piece is ever proven inauthentic?
Full refund of the purchase price plus shipping in both directions, for the lifetime of the piece — not just a return window.
Why buy from Japan?
The Japanese secondhand market is famous for the condition of its pieces and the honesty of its grading culture. Dealers are licensed and every acquisition is traceable under Japanese law.
